Understanding Economics and Geopolitics Together

Today, political developments and economic decisions can no longer be viewed in isolation. Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the transformation of Central and Eastern Europe, and increasing geopolitical competition are shaping business, politics, and society alike.
 

I analyze these developments and assess their implications in a clear and practical manner. My particular focus is on Poland, Russia, and Ukraine, as well as on the economic and geopolitical challenges facing businesses and public institutions.

In doing so, I combine scientific analysis with many years of practical experience in international management. My goal is to explain complex relationships in an understandable way, highlight different perspectives, and provide guidance in a dynamic environment.

My Approach

My work lies at the intersection of business, politics, and society. I am interested in international developments not as abstract geopolitical processes, but in terms of their concrete implications for companies, organizations, and decision-makers.

 

Regular visits to Central and Eastern Europe, international university partnerships, and ongoing engagement with academia, business, and politics give me a firsthand perspective on the region. I draw on these experiences in my lectures, professional development programs, consulting projects, and media appearances.

In my analyses, I place a high value on scientific rigor, diverse perspectives, and clear language. I aim to highlight complexity without making things unnecessarily complicated.

Professional Background

After several years in management and project roles at international companies, I deepened my interest in Central and Eastern Europe by pursuing a degree in Eastern European Studies at the University of Bern. There, I earned a Master of Arts in Eastern European Studies and World Arts with honors (summa cum laude). My master’s thesis examined Russian identity politics and its significance for Russia’s political self-conception.

 

I am currently a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). I teach international management as well as topics at the intersection of business, geopolitics, and Central and Eastern Europe. In addition, I serve as a guest lecturer and speaker at international universities and professional conferences.

 

In addition to my teaching duties, I work as a speaker, moderator, and media commentator. My clients and partners include universities, companies, associations, public institutions, and media outlets.
